Status: Project Abandoned

This domain had expired after the original creator, PegaXing, stopped paying for it. I saw it pop up for auction so I purchased it to prevent someone placing malware or some sort of crypto gambling scam page in its place. I want to keep this simple and confirm that this project has been abandoned. I have been asked about it quite a bit recently, and there has been confusion in regard to what was posted on lambdagen recently via twitter, youtube, etc about the mod and whether its been abandoned or not. Understandably, people have questions and are not sure what the truth is.

So heres a little backstory. In April of 2025, PegaXing had not posted in the public channels or private dev channels since at least February of 2025. Fans of the mod started asking questions about where the promised patch was for part 1 of the demo was that would fix bugs and improve performance. Myself and others started responding to those concerns stating that many of the team had not heard from PegaXing ourselves in quite a while, so we were unsure if the project had gone dormant again. Some of this discussion appeared to upset PegaXing as he posted a fairly angry message about his ongoing personal troubles to the team and how upset he was that people were asking him for clarity over the status after 5 months of no updates. About an hour later, PegaXing deleted the discord entirely with no warning.

When team members reached out to Pega, he told them that they were no longer a part of the team and that he would be moving on with the mod in a solo capacity. No warning, no courtesy message, no further explanation. He also failed to ask for anyones permission for continued use of their contributed assets for the project. This being the project website, the ARG website and planned materials for that part of the project, the models, particle systems, game code, etc that were all contributed by other members. He posted a longwinded moddb article on that same day, saying he needed to go "back to basics", but that has been the last time anyone's heard from him in regard to interlude.

Fast forward to March of 2026, nearly a year after the deletion of the discord, there have still been no public statements made by PegaXing regarding the mod, nor its future. The team members I have remained in contact with him, have not heard from him since April of 2025, nor has PegaXing asked for permission to use their contributions in any speculated "continued development". There are two people who claim to continue to work on the project, one of whom I have talked to recently, and they state that the project is not realistically in active development, that they are making random assets in hopes that the mod gets picked up again by PegaXing.

Looking back on everything that has happened, I find the whole situation a little sad, but mostly pathetic. PegaXing saw fit to exploit folks for their work and contributions and market them as his own, all to one day decide that nobody else should be involved and that the contributions were his to keep and market as his own. He was constantly asking for metrics for the site, asking me to help him manipulate reddit posts to increase traffic, and then feeding secret details about the ARG and my creations to content creators behind my back. Not to mention him getting angry at the team constantly for not fixing his broken demo for him, and then talking negatively about these same team members on calls with me.

End of the day, believe what you would like. All I am trying to do is add transparency to the lack of updates. If PegaXing makes a public apology to the team on ModDB some day, ill take this down. Otherwise, I hope HLX (Half Life 3) comes out soon and this project fades into obscurity as just another sad blip along the pathway that lead to Half Life 3's release.
